Project Description
This is a state funded community- based economic centre aimed at promoting and improving the livelihoods of its residents via locally driven activities and entrepreneurships, ie tourism, rice products, textile and food production. The design embraces the local context which boasts of vistas of open padi fields and of Mount Jerai as its backdrop. All buildings are designed along a central boulevard that is orientated towards Mount Jerai, and acts as its centre of activities ie F&B, food processing incubators, textile studios, tourist information centre, retails and offices. The buildings pay tribute to local Malay vernacular architecture via the tiered pitch roofs with deep overhangs, verandahs, local materials, colors and textiles. Ultimately, the centre aims to create a spatial experience which makes it a unique landmark and iconic destination for all.
